Red Bull Ampol Racing has revealed its 2023 Supercars Championship livery, which will feature on the team’s two Gen3 Chevrolet Camaros.
The team’s driver lineup remains unchanged for the season, with three-time Supercars champion Shane van Gisbergen and 2022 Adelaide 500 winner Broc Feeney. Both drivers’ first running of their new Gen3 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1’s was held at Queensland Raceway on February 14, with both cars clocking up a combined 650 kilometers of on-track testing.
The team will also enter 2023 with an unchanged race engineering line up, with Andrew Edwards working alongside van Gisbergen in the #97 Camaro, and Martin Short continuing as Feeney’s race engineer in the #88 Camaro. Both engineers will continue to work under the guidance of the team’s Technical Director, Jeromy Moore, and Team Manager, Mark Dutton.
SHANE APPROVES!
“I think the new cars look cool, especially the shape of it. The colours on the car are quite a big change for us this year as the last few years have been quite similar. The blue and red, mixed together with the white roof looks tough.”
“(Andrew Edwards) was an awesome addition to our team last year – he’s really committed, and we get along well. He’s taught me a lot and pushed me to be better, and I’d love to keep improving on that relationship and get better and better.”
Jamie Whincup, Team Principal, Red Bull Ampol Racing – “It’s a massively exciting era for the sport. We’ve been working on this Gen3 project for three years now. As soon as Covid hit the world, Triple Eight realised this was the time to develop a new product and we need it as quick as possible. We started the journey then, and here we are now.
“I couldn’t be prouder of the people at Triple Eight. Everyone watching at home will see two cars on track, but the hours, dedication, blood, sweat and tears that have gone into getting those cars on track and giving the drivers the opportunity to showcase that work, it’s without doubt Triple Eights biggest achievement – second to none. It’s something we’re so proud of and will be a part of our legacy.
“The cars look great. I might be biased, but I think it’s the best-looking livery we’ve had. I think if you’re not excited to see that first in Newcastle, then potentially motorsport isn’t for you. Every team has had a big reset, and no one knows what’s going to happen around a crazy little street track. Debuting new cars with less aerodynamics, bigger horsepower, and lighter weight – there’s so many unknows and that’s what sport’s all about.”
The 2023 Repco Supercars Championship kicks off on the spectacular streets of Newcastle on 10 – 12 March.
