In the 70’s, the National Race Meetings at Pukekohe were often finished with a ‘Flying Farewell’. A handicap race for saloon cars where the fastest cars, the likes of Paul Fahey, Red Dawson, Rod Coppins and Jim Richards, started from the rear of the grid. A race that always offered plenty of action.
It only seems fitting that the final Supercars race to be held at the circuit was one of the most enthralling to be seen for some time, an appropriate way to close the book on a circuit that has such a rich motorsport history.
Take a moment to enjoy some images of the weekend.
